SHAFTSBURY - Police said they suspect alcohol was involved in an early Thursday morning crash that sent one man to the hospital with cuts to his face.

According to Trooper Justin Walker, of the Vermont State Police, at 12:35 a.m. a 2004 Mazda pickup being driven by Anthony LaFlamme, 47, of Bennington, collided with guardrails on Route 7A, near Daniels Road.

Walker said LaFlamme was taken to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington with cuts to his face and head. Walker said police suspect LaFlamme had been drinking and processed him for driving under the influence of alcohol.

The Shaftsbury Fire Department assisted at the crash.
