American education is out of focus
A recent educational report card stated "Math Scores lower, Reading Scores unchanged for Nation's High School Seniors." These stagnating results are worrisome and a terrible consequence of our costly/unionized education system.
I recently met a teacher who taught overseas and indicated it was like night and day in terms of education focus, teaching methods, and outcomes when she came back to teach in American schools. I also read an article about the Finland schools published in a Canadian paper stating their education goals are to transform kids into "productive, non-dependent and tax-contributing citizens." That's a far cry from the diversity and equity agenda being promoted in American schools today.
In Finland there's no ability grouping until the age 16 and students remain in school until 18. There's also no special or remedial classes and the school's objective is to get the most academically out of each day. "School is your life not life is for school." They do have a low teacher/aid to student ratio but all teachers have advanced degrees and set their own goals agreed to by their principal. There is a national curriculum, testing begins at 16 and education outcomes are so outstanding that other nations are studying their system.
Education in America today isn't working. Rather than address this education crisis our President is issuing executive orders requiring open bathrooms for self-proclaimed gender identity instead of students' biological sex. We are raising a nation of politically correct kids who will be entitlement/dependency driven and that doesn't bode well for our future.
