Thank you from South Street Café's former owners
With hearts full of gratitude as we pass the South Street Café baton (or rolling pin) on to new stewards, we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has been a part of this little bit of our community.
Thank you to our customers for the kindness and patience you showed us when we first started at the Café seven years ago, and for your continued encouragement and patronage year after year. We have enjoyed meeting visitors from all over the world; but you who choose, day after day, to support this local business, you are the ones who brought us a smile in the middle of winter and keep this place possible season after season. We thank you also for the sweet generosity with which you showered us when we had our baby. And thank you too for your generosity to both of our girls through the years—for buying all those pipe-cleaner animals, for teaching chess and cards and Greek, and for all the innumerable gifts.
Also, thank you to our fellow business neighbors for welcoming us into the community and recommending that people cross the street and find us. That fellowship is not to be underestimated and we truly appreciate it.
We have had the sincere pleasure of being a place where many people have shared their talents, so thank you to all the musicians, writers, painters and artists of all kinds who have made this community more vibrant. You rock! And roll, and samba...! Special thanks to Sunday Jazz guys Gary Miller & Dave Banulis, and to Thursday's "That Strange!" We look forward to seeing more music happen here in the future.
And many thanks to our staff who have worked with us over the years. Thank you for what each of you brought to this crazy little place! And thank you to Lin Bootle who originally started this adventure 21 years ago, and then thank you to Robin Andrew who further established the Café and passed the rolling pin on to us.
And now thank you to Brian and Maeve, and Steve for joining this Café family. It's been a pleasure getting to know you and we wish you every success. We look forward to the great changes you'll bring and hope you have fun downtown as South Street Café's new stewards. Thank you everyone. Enjoy. We'll see you on the other side of the counter.
