Meg Ryan and John Mellencamp have gone their separate ways.
"It was the distance," a source reportedly told People. "She lives in New York and he resides in Indiana. It was the long distance that ultimately was the cause."
I blame Obama.
The 62-year-old singer apparently wouldn't move to New York for Ryan because they don't have cows and tractors there. And Ryan, 52, wouldn't move because, well, its Indiana and "Green Acres" was all just a big lie.
"I'm too sensitive to live there," Mellencamp told Rolling Stone in December. "I can't see poor people. I can't see the suffering. I can't see the trash on the streets. I'm not leaving Indiana. I'm going to die here."
Right. Just like the cows and tractors.
The pair dated for three years after Mellencamp divorced Elaine Irwin.
People.com reports the "Sleepless in Seattle" actress is reuniting with Tom Hanks in new film "Ithaca," while Mellencamp is working on his 22nd album.
