Beading class to benefit Head Start

POWNAL — Alison Case, professor of English at Williams College, will be offering a workshop in jewelry making for the benefit of Pownal Head Start.

Case, known affectionately as "The Bead Lady," initially developed her craft for relaxation, making gifts for friends and family. Her hobby gradually grew much larger. It was at this point that her beading party, beadathon and beading workshop ideas were born. Roughly two-thirds of the revenues from her efforts are donated to a local social service charity selected by the host.

The workshop will be held at The Studio Club ArtWorks on Route 7 in Pownal Center on Saturday, May 24, at 10 a.m. The session is suitable for all experience levels and for budding crafters as well as those simply wishing to learn how to repair their own jewelry. The fee is $15 and attendees must spend a minimum of $15 in supplies. Space is extremely limited. Call 823-9308 for reservations and further details.
