Run for the Roses 5k
GRAFTON, N.Y. -- Registration is now open for the 29th Annual Run for the Roses 5k Foot Race to be held on Sunday, Aug. 10, at Grafton Lakes State Park. The event benefits Grafton Community Library, and includes a 2.5-mile Nature Walk and Kids' 1-mile Fun Run in addition to the USATF sanctioned 5k race.
Preregistration deadline for reduced entry fee is August 5. The Nature Walk steps off at 8 a.m., reduced entry fee is $10, day of race is $15. The 5k starts at 9 a.m., reduced entry fee is $20, day of race $25. Fun Run at 10 a.m., $8 preregistered, day of race, $10.
The first 100 pre-registered 5k runners will receive a long sleeve T-shirt. Short sleeve tees given to all other pre-registered participants. All participants receive a free book and a rose.

Eagle Project fundraiser

MPR novice triathlon
MANCHESTER -- On Saturday, Aug, 9, Manchester Parks and Recreation will be hosting our 4th annual novice triathlon. The triathlon will include a 200-yard swim, a 5-mile bike ride, and a 2-mile run. Cost is $20 preregistered or $25 for registration on the day of the event. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the event will begin at 9 a.m. at the Manchester Parks and Recreation Pool House. Winners will receive prizes, and all participants will receive a free T-shirt.

Impaired driving checkpoint
BENNINGTON -- The Bennington Police Department is holding an Impaired Driving Checkpoint during the week of August 10-August 16. Bennington Police will partner with other local law enforcement agencies for this checkpoint. Impaired driving is a serious problem that threatens all of us.
