Graney on Endicott College dean's list

BEVERLY, Mass. -- Endicott College has announced that Ayla Marie Gee Graney is on the dean's list for spring 2014. Graney is the daughter of Bernie and Cathy Graney of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., and is a junior majoring in visual communications.

Lewis on VMI dean's list

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Isaac M. Lewis is among the Virginia Military Institute cadets who were recently named to the dean's list for the second semester of academic year 2013-14.

Lewis is a sophomore from Bennington; Vt., he is majoring in Economics/Business. His parents are Gregory A. Lewis and Sarah J. Lewis.

VMI, with an enrollment of 1,600 cadets, is the nation's oldest state-supported military college. U.S. News and World Report ranks it among the top five public-supported liberal arts colleges in the nation.

CAPE COD, Mass. -- Massachusettes Maritime Acadmy that Cadet 1/C Elliot Lewis, of Bennington, Vt., graduated on July 12 with a bachelor of science in marine engineering.

Hudson Valley Community College local graduates

TROY, N.Y. -- Hudson Valley Community College held its 60th annual Commencement in May. A total of 2,240 students earn associate degrees and certificates. Of them, 470 graduate with academic honors.

Petitt on Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University dean's list

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Curtis Petitt, son of Wendy and Bob Petitt of North Bennington, Vt., received academic honors at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University by making the dean's list for the Spring, 2014 semester.

A freshman at ERAU, Petitt is majoring in air traffic management with a double minor in meteorology and occupational safety. He was recognized for outstanding scholarship and accomplishment.

Local residents make Nichols College dean's list

DUDLEY, Mass. -- Four hundred and four students at Nichols College in Dudley, Massachusetts have earned dean's list or dean's high honors during the spring term. The dean's list recognizes students who have achieved high grades during a single semester. In order to be included in the dean's list, a student must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.2 for at least 12 credit-hours and receive no grade below a C+ during the semester. A student who earns a GPA of 3.6 or higher is awarded dean's high honors.

Thomas named to MCPHS dean's list

BOSTON, Mass. -- MCPHS University has announced that Holden Thomas has been named to the dean's list for the spring 2014 semester. Thomas is a native of Bennington and is pursuing a bachelor of science in premedical and realth studies (physical therapy). Thomas will graduate from the Boston, Massachusetts campus.

The dean's list recognizes those students with a full-time course load who have achieved outstanding scholarship with a 3.5 GPA or higher for the academic term.

GETTYSBURG, Pa. -- Brett Harrington from North Bennington, Vt., has been placed on the Gettysburg College dean's honor list for outstanding academic achievement in the spring 2014 semester.

Congdon on Fairfield University dean's list

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Taylor Congdon, a resident of Bennington, Vt., was named to the dean's list at Fairfield University for the spring 2014 semester.

McVay on St. John Fisher College dean's list

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Charles McVay has been named to the Spring 2014 dean's list at St. John Fisher College. McVay is a math and economics major. To be eligible for the dean's list a student must have attained at least a 3.5 GPA for the semester.

Scholarship fund for MCLA students affected by NARH closing

NORTH ADAMS, Mass.-- This spring, Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts announced that MountainOne Financial donated $25,000 to establish a scholarship aid fund at the college to assist promising students whose family's financial resources have been negatively affected by the recent closure of North Adams Regional Hospital.

The contribution will allow for students who have been impacted and are attending MCLA in the fall to receive a $2,500 scholarship. To qualify, the students must attend MCLA full-time, be in good academic standing, be enrolled in a bachelor's degree program, and be able to demonstrate unmet financial need due to the NARH closure.

In order to be considered for the MountainOne scholarship students must submit an application through the MCLA Financial Aid Office which is located in Eldridge Hall on the MCLA campus, or can be completed online at www.mcla.edu/aid.
