Transfer Thursdays at Southern Vermont College
BENNINGTON -- The Office of Admissions at Southern Vermont College (SVC) will host Transfer Thursdays on July 10 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
"These sessions are specifically offered for prospective, transfer students who are interested in SVC," said Director of Admissions Jeremy Gibbons. "Students can learn about the transfer credit process and see how long it may take them to complete one of our degree programs." Participants will find out about the transfer process and admission criteria, meet with an admissions counselor and obtain information on scholarships and financial aid. By touring the campus, individuals will learn about the history and traditions of the college.
For those who bring transcripts from all schools attended and letters of recommendation, if available, a decision may be made on the spot for acceptance into a degree program at Southern Vermont College. The application fee will be waived.
Registration is encouraged online at www.svc.edu/summer, and appointments are expected to last about an hour. Summer Sonatina piano camp concerts
BENNINGTON -- Summer Sonatina International Piano Camp will hold free public piano concerts at the Bennington Center for the Arts (Route 9, 44 Gypsy Lane) at 6 p.m. on Thursdays July 10, July 17, July 24. Solo piano pieces and chorus are performed by students, 7 to 16, from all over the world. A reception will follow the immediately after the concert.

Pownal Legion bingo
POWNAL -- American Legion Post 90 in Pownal holds bingo on Thursdays. Doors open at 5 p.m. and bingo starts at 6:30 p.m. promptly. A snack bar will be available. There will be a cookie jar and progressive games. Everyone is invited to attend.
Bennington Free Clinic hours
BENNINGTON -- The Bennington Free Clinic is held each Thursday starting at 6 p.m. This clinic is for uninsured people 18 years of age or older, who would otherwise fall through the cracks of our fractured health care system. Gathering for West Hoosick families
BUSKIRK, N.Y. -- Families in the West Hoosick area have the opportunity to gather each Thursday evening, starting July 10 and continuing through July 31. Bring lawn chairs and/or a blanket and spend some time renewing old friendships and getting to know new neighbors. Young people and the young at heart will have the opportunity to join in a pick-up game of volleyball, but you don’t have to be a pro to play on our teams. There will also be other supervised, age-appropriate games for kids. The fun will begin at 7 p.m. and run until 8:30 p.m., weather permitting. Come join us in the field by the Community Church. BENNINGTON --Come to Bennington Free Library for Fizz, Boom, Create! Thursdays. This is a hands-on workshop for children 6 to 12 year olds at 2 p.m. in the Rotary Room. Preregistration is required.
Old First Church kick-off party
OLD BENNINGTON -- The Old First Church will hold a kick-off party at the Four Chimneys Inn on July 10 from 5 to 7 p.m. The proceeds of the party will benefit the preservation fund of the historic Church. There will be a $10 donation at the door. Hors d’oeuvres and a complimentary wine will be served. A framed 14" x 16" oil painting of the Old First Church by listed artist, Christine Lashley, will be unveiled, and; a hand hooked rug by Ann Herrick featuring Bennington scenes will also be displayed. Raffle tickets for both items will be sold at the event. The public is invited.

for clothing sale
WIILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Greylock A Better Chance has announced that it is accepting donations for its 21st annual giant clothing sale and its fourth annual linen sale. Donations will be accepted only until Labor Day: quality gently-used clothing, shoes, jewelry, and accessories for adults, winter or summer, plus towels, sheets, comforters, blankets, bedspreads and other household linens (except curtains). Items must be clean and in nearly-new condition -- no holes, stains, broken zippers, pilling, or other defects.
Items should not be taken to the ABC House. Instead, they should be brought to the First Congregational Church, 906 Main St. during limited hours: weekdays (except holidays) and Sundays from 9 a.m. to noon.

Proceeds from the ABC sales, this year to be held on Saturday, Sept. 13, and Saturday, Sept. 27, at the First Congregational Church, will be used to help support four high school students of color who live and go to school in Williamstown during the academic year. For the past 45 years Greylock ABC has sponsored over 100 students who have attended Mt. Greylock Regional High School and have been accepted at colleges and universities all over the United States.
Prophetic workshop postponed
CAMBRIDGE, N.Y. -- St. Luke’s in Cambridge NY has had to postpone its Prophetic Workshop scheduled for July 12. Pastor Brian Weeks will return at a later date.
