LUDLOW -- Okemo Mountain Resort's Tim and Diane Mueller are pleased to announce the recipients of this year's annual Scholarship Awards.
Nine scholarships were awarded to students who have worked at Okemo, or who are the dependents of Okemo employees. Criteria used to select the scholarship recipients included academic achievement, co-curricular involvement and the composition of an essay.
Okemo Mountain Employee Scholarships:
Chelsey Harmer, of Banquets, will be attending Bentley University to study business analytics.
Thomas Jelliffe, of Sienna Restaurant, will be attending Maine Maritime Academy to study marine transportation.
Nicholas Miele, of Traffic Control, will be attending Colby-Sawyer College to study sports management.
Marc Sullivan, of Accounting, is studying accounting at Champlain College.
Employee Dependent Scholarships:
Morgan Kathan, daughter of Christine Creaser-Kathan, of the Jackson Gore Inn, will be attending Keene State College to study physical education.
Sarah Rumrill, daughter of Patricia Rumrill, of Ticket Sales, will be studying business management at Bentley University.
Holly Hooke, daughter of Joan Hooke, of the Jackson Gore Inn Front Desk, is studying psychology and international relations at Eckerd College.
Caroline Zee, daughter of Yuan Zee, of Ski + Ride School, is studying Hispanic studies at Davidson College.
Sebastian Comas, of Ski Patrol, is the recipient of the John F. Mueller Scholarship. Formed by the Okemo Mountain Resort staff in memory of Dr. Mueller, this award is presented to a student, employed by Okemo or Mount Sunapee Resort, who is pursuing a career in medicine. Comas is attending Castleton State College and studying nursing.
"All of us at Okemo are glad we are able to assist graduates with their education," says Diane Mueller. "It is uplifting for everyone at the resort to see our young people head out to pursue their dreams."
Okemo Mountain Resort was recently named one of the 2014 Best Places to Work in Vermont. The annual list of the Best Places to Work in Vermont was created by Vermont Business Magazine, the Vermont Chamber of Commerce, the Vermont Department of Economic Development, the Vermont Department of Labor, the Society for Human Resource Management - Vermont State Council and Best Companies Group. Okemo Mountain Resort was ranked seventh in the large-business category and it is the first ski resort to ever make the prestigious list.
