Bake sale at Dorset Church
DORSET -- On Saturday, June 28 Women's Fellowship of the Dorset Church will hold a bake sale at the Dorset Post Office. These ladies and many more will be preparing a variety of homemade delicacies for the United Church of Dorset and East Rupert Women's Fellowship. Valley Artisans Market's "Small Gallery" exhibit
CAMBRIDGE, N.Y. -- Drawings, Ink on Paper by Leslie Fuller will be shown from June 27 to July 22 at Valley Artisans Market's Small Gallery, 25 East Main St. with an opening reception on Saturday, June 28, from 3 to 5 p.m. with a gallery talk by the artist.
Bennington Farmers' Market
BENNINGTON -- The Bennington Farmers' Market will be held Saturday, June 28, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Riverwalk Park on Depot Street. Join our region's farmers and producers for the best in fresh, local plants, vegetables, cheeses, meats, eggs, prepared foods, specialty items and crafts. David Banulis and Dave Kelner will provide music for the market. Board members from Bennington County Childcare will be staffing the kids' tent.
The market will run through October every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Saturday guided nature walks
BENNINGTON -- Education and exploration of the Norman and Selma Greenburg Conservation Reserve.
Nature's Clean up Crew: Saturday, June 28 at 1 p.m. Look for fallen logs. Turn the logs over and see what kinds of fungi and invertebrates (worms, centipedes, roly poly's) you can find. (Use little insect magnification boxes for getting a close-up view) These creatures are helping to turn the tree back into soil. They are nature's clean-up crew. Meet at the OWCC orange top building.
Meet at the One World Conservation Center building, 413 US Route 7S. Fee: $5 per person, $8 for a family.
Couch to 5k
BENNINGTON -- Off the Wall, assisted by personal trainer Dustin Shamblen, is conducting a seven week regimen that targets non-runners and gives them the tools they need to finish the Battle Day 5k on August 16.
Sponsored by the Friends of the Monument, this is a 5k race that starts and ends at the Monument with a slightly rolling course. In keeping with the Battle Day activities, this race is started with the firing of a cannon. Couch to 5k training begins Saturday, June 28 at 9 a.m. For information on the training contact Off the Wall at 802-447-0217.
Free fishing weekend
GRAFTON, N.Y. -- Grafton Lakes State Park and Cherry Plain State Park will offer free fishing without a license for June 28 and 29, as part of DEC's Free Fishing Weekend. Grafton Lakes State Park is also offering a free fishing program for park patrons.
On June 28, DEC Fisheries Educators will offer "Go Fish! An Intro to Fishing for Families" from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Meet by the boathouse on Long Pond in Grafton Lakes State Park. Children and parents will learn the basics of fishing and identification, with fishing poles provided by DEC for this free class. First-time fishermen are likely to encounter bluegill, pumpkinseeds, rock bass, as well as large and small mouth bass.
Grafton Lakes State Park is open for swimming daily from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.. Cherry Plain State Park is currently open on weekends only, but will expand to offer swimming and camping daily starting July 4 through Labor Day. To make reservations, visit www.reserveamerica.com. Both parks open at 8 a.m. for picnicking and all other day use activities and close at 8:30 p.m.
Parking fees are $8 per car at Grafton Lakes State Park and $7 per car at Cherry Plain State Park.

Jewish Film Series
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Once again, Congregation Beth Israel will have a Jewish Film Series during the summer. Although the films are still to be determined, the theme will be Jewish-French films. Doors open at 11:11 for a brunch of bagels, lox, and coffee, with the film to follow. Films will be shown on Sundays, June 29, Aug. 3, and Aug. 31. All events are free and open to all interested.
BENNINGTON -- Bingo at American Legion Post 13 is held every Sunday. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and bingo starts at 6 p.m. No one under 14 will be admitted.
CrossFit Basics class
BENNINGTON -- Bennington CrossFit runs CrossFit Basics every Sunday at both 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. CrossFit Basics is a completely free class, which is open to the public. In this class, they introduce you to the CrossFit methodology in a manner for someone brand new to CrossFit.
The primary focus in this class is for the participants to learn proper form and technique, while finishing each class with a short, high intensity workout. Any aspect of this class can be modified to accommodate all levels of fitness. For more information regarding this class, call 802-681-7350.
Sage City pops concert
NORTH BENNINGTON -- On June 29 at 4 p.m., Sage City Symphony will present an All-American Summer Pops Concert to benefit the music program at the North Bennington Village School. The concert program includes works by Rodgers and Hammerstein, Aaron Copland, and other American composers. Gerald Lanoue will conduct the Sage City players, who will be joined by members of the Music Company Orchestra based in Saratoga County, N.Y. Donations welcome.
