Pownal Legion bingo

POWNAL -- American Legion Post 90 in Pownal holds bingo on Thursdays. Doors open at 5 p.m. and bingo starts at 6:30 p.m. promptly. A snack bar will be available. Cookie jar and progressive games. Everyone is invited to attend.

Bennington Free Clinic hours

BENNINGTON -- The Bennington Free Clinic is held each Thursday starting at 6 p.m. This clinic is for uninsured people 18 years of age or older, who would otherwise fall through the cracks of our fractured health care system. Transfer Thursdays at SVC

BENNINGTON -- The Office of Admissions at Southern Vermont College (SVC) will host Transfer Thursdays on June 19 and July 10 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

"These sessions are specifically offered for prospective, transfer students who are interested in SVC," states Director of Admissions Jeremy Gibbons.

Students can learn about the transfer credit process and see how long it may take them to complete one of our degree programs." Participants will find out about the transfer process and admission criteria, meet with an admissions counselor and obtain information on scholarships and financial aid. By touring the campus, individuals will learn about the history and traditions of the College.

For those who bring transcripts from all schools attended and letters of recommendation, if available, a decision may be made on the spot for acceptance into a degree program at Southern Vermont College. The application fee will be waived.

Strawberry Shortcake supper

POWNAL -- On June 19 the Pownal United Methodist Church, located at the corner of Route 346 and Church Street, will be serving its annual Strawberry Shortcake Supper. The menu includes: cold ham and roast beef, scalloped potatoes, Jello salad, coleslaw, rolls, coffee, tea, iced tea, or lemonade, and homemade strawberry shortcake with real whipped cream. The family style supper begins at 5 p.m. with continuous serving. Tickets at the door. $10 for adults, $5 for children 4-10 years, and free for children 3 years and under.

Veterans Resource Fair

HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- There will be a Veterans' Resource Fair on June 19 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hoosick Falls American Legion, 150 Main St. Representatives from the VA Stratton Health Care Enrollment Team will be on-site.

To enroll for VA health care services; please bring service records, discharge papers and photo ID.

Please join us for a Resource Fair open to all Veterans, members of the military and their families.

StoryWalk opens at the Rec

MANCHESTER -- Summer's here, and so is StoryWalk, a collaboration between the Mark Skinner Library and the Manchester Parks and Rec Department. StoryWalk will open on June 26 around the walking path at the Rec. Enjoy a beautiful walk outside while reading children's picture books. It's fun for all ages.

StoryWalk will remain installed until August 27. Don't wait. Get outside and read.
