Deaf Panel fundraiser
BENNINGTON -- At the Bennington Center for the Arts, the Deaf Education Department at Mount Anthony Union High School will present a Deaf Panel from 4:30 to 8 p.m.
Luke Adams, the first deaf competitor to appear on the TV show "Amazing Race," will be one of the guest speakers. The panel will consist of successful deaf adults who will describe their experiences growing up and what led them to be the successful people they are today. After the panel, Sean Forbes, a successful deaf performer and motivational speaker, along with his band, "Deaf and Loud," will perform a concert for the audience to enjoy.
Admission to the Deaf Panel is free. The cost for performance portion of the event is $10 in advance; $15 at the door. Kids 12 and under are free. The money raised will be given to NEADS. Church supper in Pownal
POWNAL -- Pownal United Methodist Church, corner of Route 346 and Church Street, will serve a Friday night supper of soup, sandwiches, and pie from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. or until gone.
Snyder needs financial support as she undergoes cancer treatment. The menu will include: assorted homemade soups including corn chowder, minestrone, broccoli/cheese and several more; sandwiches and finger rolls including, chicken, ham, tuna, and egg salad, turkey/cheese, ham/cheese, and peanut butter/jelly with potato chips served family style; your choice of many kinds of pie; and lemonade, tea, and coffee. Tickets will be available at the door. $6 Adults and take outs, $4 Children 4 to 10, free for children 3 years and under.

‘Shrek The Musical' at HFCS
HOOSICK FALLS, N. Y. -- The Hoosick Falls Central School Drama Club will present "Shrek The Musical" on Friday, April 4, Saturday, April 5, and Sunday, April 6. Admission is free.
While the musical has a great deal of similarities with the 2001 movie, there are also many differences and surprises. The music is all-new, and the is suited for all ages. There will be a 20-minute intermission when concessions will be available for purchase in the high school cafeteria, with all proceeds going back into the HFCS performing arts through the student-run Performing Arts Council.

Contra dancing at OWCC
BENNINGTON -- From 7:30 to 10:30 p. m., contra dancing willl be held at the One World Conservation Center, 1. 2 miles south of the Four Corners intersection. All dances will be taught by caller Peter Stix, and beginners are welcome. Come with or without a partner. Admission is $10. Music by Spare Parts with Eric Buddington.
Texas Hold'em tournament
HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- This Friday is Poker night at The Armory. Shuffle up and deal at The Texas Hold'Em Tournament on April 4. Doors open at 6 p.m., play starts at 6:30. The buy-in is $35 with an option for a $10 add-on, plus a $5 high hand pot. Newcomers and experienced players are welcome. The Armory is at 80 Church Street.
BBA National Honor Society fundraiser BBAid
MANCHESTER -- The Burr & Burton Academy National Honor Society will hold a coffee house event at Spiral Press Cafe at 7 p.m. for a night of local artists and BBA community. Proceeds go to the Stand Up 2 Cancer organization, a program devoted to accelerated research and groundbreaking treatments. Admission is $5.
Play at Bennington College
BENNINGTON -- A performance of "Circadian," a play written by Bennington College's Alex Hovet, which explores the labor of the natural world, the work of the human world, and the struggle to remain the same -- despite constant, unavoidable, molecular change. Directed by Clara Rotter-Laitman. The showing will be April 4 and 5 at 8 p.m. in the Margot Tenney Theatre, VAPA, Bennington College.
Lifeguard training course
BENNINGTON -- The Bennington Recreation Center will be holding a Lifeguard Training Course from April 14 through April 18 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and the cost of the course is $200. Re-certification cost is $100. Must be at least 15 years of age. Please call the Rec Center at 802-442-1053 to register and for information about the course prerequisites. Payment due by April 4.
All quarterly Water and Sewer Bills due
BENNINGTON -- This is a reminder that all quarterly Water and Sewer Bills (both flat and metered) are due April 4, 2014. Payments may be made by personal check, bank check, money order or cash at the Town Offices at 205 South St. They are open Monday through Friday and accept payments between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. For a stamped receipt, you must bring both portions of the bill with you. If you wish to pay by credit card, you must call the phone number at the top of your bill (Official Payments). We do not accept credit cards at the Town Office. If you have any questions or concerns, call the Bennington Town Office Water Department at 802-442-1037.
Gardening book bundles in April
ARLINGTON -- Dreaming of Spring? Longing for your garden? The Martha Canfield Library has the answer. You may not be able to plant yet but you can plot and plan with our "Gardening Book Bundles" -- individual assortments of books on gardening. There are hardcover and paperback books in each bundle and a few surprises. There are anywhere from 6-10 items in a bundle and the cost is only $3 each -- quite a bargain price for a head start on the growing season.
You are most cordially invited to come and browse among the bundles. While you are here, you might want to check our New Book Shelf Display to see what new titles are available for borrowing. There's something for everyone at your library -- come and see us.
