ARLINGTON -- Cries of "Happy Hundred Days!" could be heard throughout the halls of Fisher Elementary recently as the school celebrated 100 days of class. Students and teachers recognized the day in various counting ways including a stacking 100 cups competition, jumping 100 times and counting out 100 raisins to eat at snack. Fisher Principal Deanne Lacoste says the Day 100 event is a highlight of the year.
"It’s a fun time that has a party-like atmosphere, but the students spend the entire day doing math by 100’s," Lacoste said. "The teachers plan these incredibly creative lessons incorporating math into every part of the day including snack. The students love it."
