Free shows at planetarium
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Williams College invites the public to the Milham Planetarium, located inside the Old Hopkins Observatory at Williams College.
Astronomy students at the college will host free shows for the public on Friday evenings at 8 p.m. beginning on Feb. 7 and running through May 2 with the exception of Spring Break, March 28 and April 4.
Audiences will be treated to shows from the high-precision Zeiss Skymaster ZKP3/B optomechanical planetarium projector, installed in April 2005.
The Zeiss Skymaster is capable of demonstrating phenomena including: retrograde motions of the planets, phases of the moon, the varying temperatures/colors of stars, locations of neighboring galaxies, the mythological figures and zodiacal signs ascribed to constellations, the Southern Hemisphere's sky, comets, artificial satellites, and more.

Bromley hosts breast cancer fundraiser
PERU - Bromley Mountain will hold its 12th annual "Mom's Day Off" fundraiser - when moms ski or ride for just $15 when they show the ticket-seller a snapshot of their kid or kids. Once again, this year's event will benefit the Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center in Bennington, part of Southern Vermont Health Care. The cancer center will receive the entire $15 donation.

Contra Dancing at OWCC
BENNINGTON - Contra dancing will be held at the One World Conservation Center, 1.2 miles south of the intersection of US 7 and Route 9. Texas Hold'Em tournament
HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. - Shuffle up and deal at The Texas Hold'Em Tournament at The Armory in Hoosick Falls on Friday, Feb. 7th. BENNINGTON - Tret Fure, a singer/songwriter well known for her work in the women's music field, will be at the Meetinghouse Cafe on Friday, Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15, $10 for students. Shires ReSale Store open house
MANCHESTER - On Presidents Weekend, February 14-17, the Shires ReSale Store will host an open house and extend its hours of operation to Friday, Saturday and Monday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 4 p.m.
Manchester's newest retail store sells new and gently used items donated to Bennington Area Habitat for Humanity at bargain prices.
The proceeds from the Store will be used to increase Bennington Habitat's capacity to help more people in Bennington County meet their housing needs.
Recent donations include a washer, dryer, freezer and refrigerator, upholstered chairs, dining room chairs, miscellaneous chairs, oak pedestal table, lamps and electrical needs, bed frames, couches, tables of every size and shape, armoire, desk, shelving units, pictures and mirrors, click flooring, tile, and file cabinets -just a large assortment of items. The Shires ReSale Store is located at 2012 Route 11/30 (Depot Street) going east out of Manchester, one mile after crossing the railroad tracks.
