Talk on Trayvon Martin case
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Dr. Neil Roberts, assistant professor and Africana studies affiliate in the Department of Political Science at Williams College, will present a talk, "It's Bigger than Hip Hop: Decoding the Trayvon Martin Event," at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) at 7 p.m. in Murdock Hall, room 218. The event is free and open to the public.
This event is sponsored by the MCLA Honors Program and the Department of Philosophy, Modern Languages and Interdisciplinary Studies.
Watercolor class at Sheep Hill
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- From Jan. 22 to March 12 Bennington artist Ann Kremers will teach a watercolor class at Sheep Hill in Williamstown.
The simplicity of still life will be used to explore a variety of watercolor techniques including brush drawing, wet in wet painting, dry brush and watercolor with pen and ink. Assignments will guide students toward dynamic composition of the picture plane. All classes will be designed so that experienced painters can use the demonstrations to build on what they know, and newcomers will be given additional instruction to the use the techniques to begin.
The class will meet eight Wednesday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon. Sheep Hill is the home of the Williamstown Rural Lands Foundation at 671 Cold Spring Road (Route 7 south). Register for snowmobiling event for those with special needs
WOODFORD -- The Woodford SnoBusters will once again host its annual Very Special People Ride which gives snowmobile rides for adults and children 6-plus with special needs.
The event will be held at the McKenna Barn in Woodford. Come join them for hot dogs, refreshments and snowmobile rides on Saturday, Feb. 8, from noon to 3 p.m. This event is free. A pre-school story hour at BFL
BENNINGTON -- On Wednesday, Jan. 22, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., a Pre-School Study Hour will be held for children aged 3-5 years upstairs in the Rotary Meeting Room at Bennington Free Library. Art, games, songs, science and math activities will be used to explore children's literature. Early literacy and listening skills will be emphasized.
