BENNINGTON -- The local United Counseling Service organization recently announced that Rev. Kathleen Clark, pastor of the Federated Church of East Arlington, has joined the Board of Directors of United Children Service, an affiliate of United Counseling Service (UCS).

According to the release distributed by UCS, Clark, who is a resident of East Arlington, previously served as the Bennington County Head Start director.

"As a minister I have worked with numerous individuals whose lives have benefited from the professional services provided by UCS," Clark said in the release. "I'm honored to join this board and support the community care provided by UCS through great programs like Head Start and Big Brothers Big Sisters."

Clark's professional experience also includes serving as the executive director at the United Way of Bennington County and the Executive Director of the Project Against Violent Encounters, according to the release.

UCS Executive Director Ralph Provenza said the organization's staff and clients would benefit greatly from Clark's years of experience working in Bennington County.

"Kathy Clark is a proven and committed leader who works every day to help people improve their quality of life. She has made it her mission to help others," he said.

Clark has also served on numerous local boards, according to the release, including the Regional Affordable Housing Corp., Greater Bennington Interfaith Community Service Inc., Charles Cooper Educational Fund, and Generations Child Care Center.

Additionally, Clark is the co-founder and co-coordinator of the Arlington/Sandgate/Sunderland Summer Lunch Program.
