Businesses sponsor free Christmas Show Dec. 21

BENNINGTON -- Bennington Cinemas and Bank of Bennington, along with WBTN 1370 AM, Carbone Auto Plaza, Brown Computer Solutions, The Publyk House and the Pennysaver are sponsoring a free Christmas Show for children and their families on Saturday, Dec. 21.

"The Polar Express," rated G, starring Tom Hanks, is an animated holiday classic based on the book by Chris Van Allsburg.

This film will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21.

Admission is free, but tickets must be obtained in advance from the following local merchants: WBTN 1370 AM, Bank of Bennington, Carbone Auto Plaza (all locations), Brown Computer Solutions, The Publyk House and the Pennysaver.

A total of 450 tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis.

Santa will be on hand at the Bennington Cinemas when the doors open at 9:30 a.m., and he encourages parents to bring their cameras.

Parents are certainly welcome to attend the films with their children, or may drop them off and pick them up afterwards.

Everyone who attends the movie is asked to please bring a non-perishable food item for collection by the Kitchen Cupboard in Bennington for the distribution to needy families in the area.

Those who do not plan to attend the movie but might wish to donate food items, may do so anytime between 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 21 Dion Money Management announces two new employees

Wheeler now serves as the primary point of contact for internal and external correspondence on all matters pertaining to the office of the president. Wheeler also serves as a liaison between the president and senior management teams, organizes and coordinates executive outreach and external relations efforts, and oversees special projects.

now accepts EBT cards

MANCHESTER -- Steve Burzon, owner of the Garden Arts Fresh Market announces that the market is now approved by the USDA to accept EBT cards from persons entitled to the benefits of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (formerly known as Food Stamps).

FairPoint expands coverage

Prelicensing course

HOOSICK FALLS -- The Northeast New York Safety & Health Council will sponsor the Pre-Licensing Course at the Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation (Hoosick Falls Health Center) on Danforth St. in Hoosick Falls on Thursday Jan. 2, 2014 beginning at 3:30 p.m. and ending at 8:30 p.m.

A pre-registration fee of $40 payable to NENY Safety and a valid NYS driver’s permit will be required.

Successful completion of this class, which includes passing a test, provides the student with the necessary paperwork (MV-278) to take NYS Driver’s Test and is valid for a year.
