Dictionaries delivered to Fisher Elementary

ARLINGTON -- When third-graders are trying to pronounce, "cryoplankton," "lectern," and "ethereal," you know something's up.

It was a special day Monday at Fisher Elementary School when Nathalie Caler and June Sherwin of the Arlington Battenkill Grange No. 487 visited to deliver dictionaries to students.

Fisher third grade teacher Charlie Cummings said the students couldn't wait to receive the books.

"These dictionaries are like mini-encyclopedias. The kids love them. During free reading time, students will ask if they can take out their dictionaries to read more about the solar system and a host of other interesting facts. We so appreciate the Grange giving us these books each year."

Fisher Elementary receives tree from resident

ARLINGTON-- Again this year, Fisher Elementary in Arlington is fortunate to have received the gift of a tree for the holiday season. For the past few years, Jim Edgerton has given a tree from his Arlington land to the school. Fisher Principal Deanne Lacoste said she is grateful for the donation. "Mr. Edgerton's generosity is truly a gift to us. The tree is up and lit for the season and seeing it every morning is a great reminder to our students about the kindness of this community."
