POWNAL -- The American Legion Post 90 in Pownal holds bingo on Thursdays. Doors open at 5 p.m., and bingo starts at 6:30 p.m., promptly. There will be two progressive games, and a snack bar will be available.
Five-hour prelicensing class
HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- The Northeast New York Safety and Health Council will sponsor the pre-licensing course at the Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation (Hoosick Falls Health Center) Danforth Street, beginning at 3:30 p.m. promptly.
This program requires a pre-registration fee of $40 payable to NENY Safety and a valid New York driver's permit. Successful completion of this class, which includes passing a test, provides the student with the necessary paperwork (MV-278) to take the New York driver's test and is valid for one year. Youth Hockey Registration
MANCHESTER -- Northshire Hockey Association will host a registration night for all interested youth hockey players at Riley Rink from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. For a second year in a row, Northshire Hockey Association will be offering free hockey instruction for boys and girls ages 6 and under at Riley Rink during the upcoming 2013-14 hockey season.
The free program starts October 26 and runs for approximately 15 weeks. Practices will take place once a week on Saturday mornings at 9:45 a.m. NHA's only required prerequisite for participation in the free age 6 and under program is that each prospective player be an independent skater. NHA has limited numbers of equipment rental packages available for $30. New group for women and men
EAST ARLINGTON -- Soul Fire, a new monthly group for women and men, will explore living life in a new way; by listening deeply to your inner voice and following it and by honoring the truth in your heart and soul.
The first gathering will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Bailey Hall, 79 Ice Pond Road. The cost will be offered on a sliding scale of $10-15. Bring a pad of paper or journal, pen and an open heart.
Soul Fire will be facilitated by Teresa King, a local yoga instructor and workshop facilitator who has been questioning things since the age of 6. She invites you to connect with your soul, feed your inner fire and live more of the life you've been wanting to live. Family style turkey supper
MIDDLE GRANVILLE, N.Y. -- A family-style turkey supper will be held at the Middle Granville Presbyterian Church, Route 22A, from 5 to 7 p.m. The menu will include turkey, dressing, gravy, real mashed potatoes, vegetable, cranberry sauce, cole slaw, homemade rolls, homemade pies and beverages. Takeouts and gift certificates available. Tickets at the door: Adults $8; children 5 to 12, $4; under 4 are free.

All quarterly water and sewer bills due
BENNINGTON -- This is a reminder that all quarterly water and sewer bills (both flat and metered) are due Friday, Oct. 4. Payments may be made by personal check, bank check, money order or cash at the town offices. The town office is located at 205 South St. They are open Monday through Friday and accept payments between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. For a stamped receipt, you must bring both portions of the bill with you.
If you wish to pay by credit card, you must call the phone number at the top of your bill (official payments). We do not accept the credit cards at the town office.
