Bennington Legion bingo
BENNINGTON -- American Legion Post 13 hosts bingo on Sunday. Doors open at 5 p.m. and bingo starts at 6 p.m. No one under 14 will be admitted.
Woman's Club meeting
SALEM, N.Y. -- The Salem Area Woman's Club will start its 90th year at the Mackenzie Chapel in the First United Presbyterian Church on West Broadway in Salem. The Membership Tea will begin at 1 p.m.
The yearbook listing each month's program will be available at the September meeting. Profits from the 2013 Women's Health Day will be awarded to Ann Marie Hatch, from Glens Falls Hospital, and to Rachel Gartner from Catholic Charities Domestic Violence Program. Each will give a short talk about her organization.
In addition to discussion, a committee will be formed to prepare for the Fall Adirondack District meeting on Sept. 28. All are welcome to attend.
Gentle Yoga for Cancer Survivors
BENNINGTON -- Gentle Yoga For Cancer Survivors, a free class, begins Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 6 to 7 p.m., in Conference Room C at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.
This gentle yoga class is structured specifically to help in the healing and restoration of those who are coping with a cancer diagnosis or who have recovered from cancer. This class is ongoing so you can join anytime. It is sponsored by a special grant through the Cancer Center at SVMC.
The instructor is Jane Schaeffer, MA, a registered yoga teacher and psychologist-master, owner of The Yoga Place.

Department of Corrections schedules Town Hall meeting series
The Department of Corrections has scheduled a series of Town Hall Meetings. The meetings are Sept. 11, 2013; Feb. 12, 2014; June 11, 2014; and, Oct. 8 2014. All meetings are held via Vermont Interactive Technologies and run from 4 to 6 p.m. Community members are encouraged to attend the meeting to provide feedback to the department. Bennington is one of the participating VIT locations across the state.
The September meeting will focus on the Vermont Treatment Program for Sexual Abusers. In additional, the Department will share information about the wide range of services available to victims and families when the offender in their case is in the custody of or being supervised by the Department of Corrections.
The Department is also accepting ideas for future topics.
