Overeaters Anonymous meets
BENNINGTON -- Overeaters Anonymous meets on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. at the Bennington Free Library, 101 Silver St. DAR honors patriots
OLD BENNINGTON -- The Bennington Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will meet at the Bennington Center Cemetery at noon to honor the patriots who died at the Battle of Bennington. Following the laying of the wreath, members will gather at 12:15 p.m. in the Bennington Museum for a business meeting and program. Bring a sandwich; dessert and beverages will be provided. Hoosick Democratic Committee meeting
HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- The Hoosick Democratic Committee will hold a public meeting for all interested persons at 7 p.m. at the Hoosick Falls Armory. The committee is working to elect Mark Surdam, Dave Sutton, and Mike Hickey to the Hoosick Town Board and Bill Shiland III as highway superintendent in the November election. (The candidates are all also running on the Hoosick First! line.) Attendees at the meeting will visit with some of the candidates, and help organize events and activities planned for the months remaining before the election.
Multiple Myeloma Networking Group
BENNINGTON -- The Multiple Myeloma Networking Group -- Southwestern Vermont Region (including the northern Berkshires and eastern New York) will hold its third support group meeting from 6 to 8 p.m., at the First Baptist Church, 601 Main St. Interested patients, caregivers, family members and friends are encouraged to attend.

Deadline for Budget Committee letters
CAMBRIDGE, N.Y. -- The Cambridge Central School Board is developing a budget committee and is seeking members. This committee is charged with developing recommendations and providing input and feedback for consideration to the superintendent and board of education at an advisory level with final approval from the school board. An Aug. 20 deadline has been set for individuals interested in serving on this committee to submit a letter of interest to Dr. Kerri Brown, CCS School Board president.
The committee will represent a cross-section of the community, including parents, community members at-large, faculty, staff, administrators, and board of education members.

Peach shortcake supper
POWNAL -- The Pownal United Methodist Church, located at the corner of Route 346 and Church Street,will be serving its annual Peach Shortcake Supper on Thursday, Aug. 22. The menu includes: Cold ham and roast beef, baked beans, potato, macaroni, and Jell-O salads, seasonal vegetables, rolls, coffee, tea, iced tea, or lemonade, and homemade peach shortcake. The family style dinner begins at 5 p.m. with continuous serving. Take-out available. Tickets at the door: $10 for adults, $5 for children 4-10 years, and free for children 3 years and under.
