Dance at potluck at Arlington Legion

ARLINGTON -- D.J. Wooddell is back at the Arlington American Legion Post No. 69. Dust off your dancing shoes and bring your Valentine to dance the night away. Fee is $10 per person/$15 per couple. St. Patrick’s Church Lenten fish fry

CAMBRIDGE, N.Y. -- St. Patrick’s Church will hold a Lenten fish fry each Friday during Lent, beginning Friday, Feb. 15, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The menu includes deep fried Pollack on a roll with a choice of sauce (tartar, cocktail or ketchup), cole slaw, French fries, dessert and a drink. The cost is $8.50. Take out or eat in is available.

Dog licenses available

SHAFTSBURY -- In Shaftsbury, 2013 dog licenses arw available. Get a license by April 1 to avoid late charges. A rabies clinic will be held on Saturday, Feb. 16, from 9 a.m. to noon at Buck Hill firehouse. Rabies vaccines are $12 per shot.

Guetti graduates from recruit training

NORFOLK, Va. -- Marine Corps Pvt. Michael A. Guetti, son of Clara A. and Joel R. Howard of Pownal, Vt., earned the title of United States Marine after graduating from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. For 13 weeks, Guetti stayed committed during some of the world’s most demanding entry-level military training in order to be transformed from civilian to Marine instilled with pride, discipline and the core values of honor, courage and commitment. Training subjects included close-order drill, marksmanship with an M-16A4 rifle, physical fitness, martial arts, swimming, military history, customs and courtesies.

One week prior to graduation, Guetti endured The Crucible, a 54-hour final test of recruits’ minds and bodies. Upon completion, recruits are presented the Marine Corps emblem and called Marines for the first time.

Guetti is a 2012 graduate of Mount Anthony Union High School of Bennington, Vt.
