4th Annual Stuff the Bus
BENNINGTON -- During Martin Luther King Weekend, Friday, Jan. 18 and Saturday the 19, Green Mountain RSVP, Green Mountain Express and Price Chopper will once again join together to "Stuff the Bus." A Green Mountain Express bus will be parked in front of Price Chopper from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, the 18th and again on Saturday the 19th from 10 to 4. Many volunteers will be urging shoppers to purchase additional non-perishable food items and paper products during those days and stuff them into the bus. Free re-usable Stuff the Bus shopping bags will be given to the first 100 donors each day. On the following Monday, Martin Luther King Day, folks from every food pantry and soup kitchen from Arlington to Pownal will be invited to pack up the collected items to re-fill their shelves to help local families in need. This year the need for assistance is way up from last year. It’s a challenge for all the food pantries to keep up with the tremendous need. In 2012, generous Price Chopper shoppers donated 2 and a half tons of food items. This year we’d like to increase that amount. Volunteers are needed on all three days, so give us a call and join our cause - 447-1545. Can we top last year’s 2 tons? Stay tuned!
