No Steak Night at American Legion Post 13

BENNINGTON -- There will be no Steak Night today, Dec. 28, at American Legion Post 13 on Northside Drive. Portable skidder bridges for rent for timber harvests

BENNINGTON COUNTY -- Portable skidder bridges are a new tool being used by loggers and other forest professionals to protect streams and minimize the negative impacts of timber harvesting. These temporary structures, suitable for a variety of logging equipment, are easy to transport, install and remove. They are designed to help loggers, landowners, and forest professionals comply with the accepted management practices for maintaining water quality of logging jobs in Vermont by reducing soil erosion and sedimentation, keeping fine debris from entering streams, and preventing alteration of the stream channel.

Heavy duty portable skidder bridges are now available for rent for $100 per month from the Bennington County Conservation District (BCCD). Bridges can be picked up at Allard Lumber in West Pawlet. For more information on renting a portable skidder bridge, contact BCCD at 802-442-2275 or bccd@sover.net. A contract must be signed and first month's payment made before pick-up can be arranged.

Town Offices closed Jan. 1

BENNINGTON -- Bennington Town Offices will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 1, in observance of the New Year holiday. It will reopen on Wednesday, Jan. 2, at 8 a.m.
