’Go Home Drill’ in Cambridge

CAMBRIDGE, N.Y -- The Cambridge Central School District will take part in the New York State-wide annual "Go Home Drill."

This year’s drill will simply have the students in K-12 released in a manner similar to a normal day’s release but at an earlier time, 2 p.m. While the drill this year will follow a normal day format, district officials are confident that should an emergency arise that necessary arrangements are in place to allow for a safe and orderly dismissal. Hopefully such a situation will not occur and these plans will never be needed. If any parent has any questions regarding this district-wide early dismissal drill, they should contact their child’s principal.

Benefit fundraiser for Julie Hathaway

CAMBRIDGE, N.Y. -- A comedy night fundraiser is being planned for Julie Hathaway. Her friends are planning this fundraiser to help offset uncovered medical expenses from her struggle with crohn’s and ulcerative colitis.

Hathaway is a coach for the Cambridge Youth Cheerleaders. She is from Hoosick Falls. While her condition did not allow her to be a hands-on coach this year, she remains a consultant and hopes to be back next year.

The benefit will be held at the American Legion in Cambridge at 7 p.m. Three comedians from Saratoga Comedy Club are scheduled for the event: Jodi Weiner, Linda Belt and Carole Montgomery.

Tickets are $20. Call Bethany Witham at 518-681-0723 or Jess Griffith at 518-791-8144, or e-mail CambridgeClerk@gmail.com for more information or for tickets. Doors will open at 6 p.m. for a Chinese Auction; the show will start at 7 p.m. Advance tickets are suggested, as seating is limited.
