MANCHESTER -- An informational workshop titled "A Non-Invasive, Drugless Approach for Chronic Ear Infections" Has Been Scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 14, Beginning at 5 p.m. at Pinkus Family Chiropractic, located at 3724 Main Street, Manchester, VT 05254.

Ear infections are the most common illness affecting babies and young children and the No. 1 reason for visits to the pediatrician.

Almost two-thirds of all children will have had at least one ear infection by age 3. For many children, it can become a chronic problem, requiring treatment annually and puts the child at risk of permanent hearing damage, associated speech and developmental problems. Standard treatment for most ear infection cases is antibiotics. Typically ear infections become a chronic problem and over time, repeated doses of antibiotics can lead to drug resistant bacteria that scoff at the drugs. If ear infections become frequent over time, "ear tubes" are then typically prescribed. The second most common reason for surgery in children under age 2 is for children with frequent ear infections. This surgery often requires general anesthesia, never a minor thing in a small child.

More and more parents are considering chiropractic to help children with ear infections as a healthy alternative to medications and surgery. There is a direct link between the nerves in the neck (the superior cervical ganglion), the muscles of the Eustachian tubes (tensor veli palatini) and the middle ear.

The job of the chiropractor is to detect the nerve interference and correct it. By correcting this interference, the child’s body is given the potential to heal and build up their own antibodies. Once a child starts to fight ear infections off, with their own antibodies, they tend to do very well and typically stay away from ear infections completely. Chiropractic care for children is very gentle and varies tremendously from the adult version.

The winter months are coming and ear infections are most prevalent during this time. Come learn more about how Chiropractic Care is safe and effective and is proven to free many patients of ear infections. The informational workshop is free of charge and open to the public. Seating is limited, and reservations are recommended. For more information, please call 802-362-7512.
