Volunteer counselors needed for TaxAide Program
BENNINGTON --Volunteers are being sought for the AARP/IRS TaxAide Program assisting elderly and low/moderate income families in doing their personal income taxes. Training will be provided for new volunteers. First will be an introduction to the Taxaide program to include step by step training on the Taxwise computer program that is used in Taxaide. The introduction will be conducted during November or December (times to be scheduled as needed). Then a more formal in depth weeklong training program for the new volunteers and returning volunteers will be in January 2013. Tax preparation season begins in February, 2013. We will be asking the volunteers to give at least four hours a week of counseling for 10 weeks.
The tax aide program is a partnership between the IRS and AARP to train and equip volunteers with the knowledge and tools to assist in the preparation of accurate personal income tax returns. Training is provided for both Federal and State income tax returns. For further information email Barth Vander Els at firstname.lastname@example.org.
