McIntosh finishes masters program in Egypt

BENNINGTON -- Kerry McIntosh, 25, of Bennington graduates on June 16 from the American University in Cairo, Egypt, with a Masters of Arts in Middle East Studies. She focused her graduate study on contemporary Middle Eastern politics, history and international human rights law.

A 2003 graduate of Mount Anthony Union High School, McIntosh graduated from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University in 2007, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in international politics, with a focus on international security studies. She has studied and worked in Syria, Egypt and Cyprus over the past three years. Upon graduation, she will work abroad in government service. Kerry is the daughter of Susan McIntosh of Bennington.

Eagle Bridge resident named to WPI Spring dean’s list

WORCESTER, Mass. -- Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) has announced that Kevin Woods of Eagle Bridge, N.Y., a freshman majoring in Biomedical Engineering, was named to the university’s dean’s list for academic excellence for the spring 2010 semester.

Local resident graduates from Smith College

NORTHAMPTON, Mass.-- Anika Leigh Goodhue, daughter of Stephen and Donna Goodhue of Bennington, received a bachelor’s degree from Smith College on Sunday, May 16. She was one of 733 seniors who graduated during the college’s 132nd commencement exercises, at which political analyst and media host Rachel Maddow was the featured speaker.

A 2006 graduate of Mount Anthony Union High School, Anika majored in Psychology and minored in Exercise and Sports Studies at Smith.

Her undergraduate activities included Varsity Field Hockey, coaching Nomads Field Hockey, and spending a semester abroad in Melbourne, Australia in the spring of 2009. She also worked as a photographer for the college in her junior and senior years.

Locals named to dean’s list at St. Michael’s

N. Bennington resident Fallon earns degree

STANDISH, Maine -- Rebecca Fallon of North Bennington, VT, received Bachelor of Science in Nursing through the Graduate & Professional Studies division at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine, which offers online education for working adults.

Saint Joseph’s College of Maine offers traditional, 4-year bachelor’s degrees to students at its southern Maine campus on Sebago Lake and online undergraduate and graduate programs to working adults throughout the country.

Locals named to St. Lawrence dean’s list

CANTON, N.Y. -- The following students have been selected for inclusion on the Dean’s List for academic achievement during the spring semester at St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York:

Daniel T. Curran ‘13 of Shaftsbury; Curran graduated from Mount Anthony Union High School in Bennington.

Jennifer L. Kish ‘10 of Manchester Center; Kish graduated from Stratton Mountain School in Stratton Mountain.

She majored in Environmental Studies/Biology.

Orientation leader and alpine skiing are among the activities that Kish has participated in on campus.

Local student named
to Sewanee dean’s list

SEWANEE, Tenn. -- Colby Ann Adams of Bennington has been named to the dean’s list at the University of the South for the Easter 2010 term. Adams is the child of Malcom McNeil Adams and Kate Jerome Coderre.

Local resident graduates from Hamilton College

CLINTON, N.Y. -- Linley Nykiel-Bub, daughter of Susan and Raymond Bub of Pownal, received a bachelor of arts degree from Hamilton College on Sunday, May 23, at the college’s 198th Commencement.

Nykiel-Bub, who graduated with a degree in Hispanic studies, now joins an alumni body of approximately 19,000, many of whom have made important contributions to business, the professions, government and the arts.
