BENNINGTON — This weekend, the students of Monument Elementary will present their take on the stage production of Disney's "The Aristocats."

The show debuted for other students on Friday afternoon, and before parents on Friday evening. If you missed both of those performances, there will be two more on Saturday, the first at 1:30 p.m., and the second at 6 p.m. The musical is based on the 1970 animated film of the same name.

The play was directed by school counselor Erin Trawick, along with junior sound director Callum DeBoer and junior stage directors Aidan Forrest and Emma Jansch.

The two-act play starred Chase Dobson as Thomas O'Malley, the alley cat, who helps a family of "aristocats" — Duchess, played by Stella Donza, Toulouse, played by Finn Payne, Marie, played by Georgia Payne, and Berlioz, played by Thomas Scheetz — return to their loving Parisian owner, Madame, played by Justice Pratt, after her evil butler, Edgar, played by Cooper Niles, tries to abandon them in the countryside. Other major characters included Scat Cat, played by Kylan Glaski, and their mouse friend Roquefort, played by Peter McKenna.

The alley cats were played by Ella Schillberg, Megan Gates, Jesse Quinn, Tyler DeBoer, and Teagan Currier. The dogs, who patrol the countryside looking for cats or butlers to chase, were played by Mia Monaghan, Nathan Lincourt, Lucas Lincourt, and DJ Roy. Finally, the geese are played by Sophia Anisman and Arriell Santos.

The actors are supported by a Kitty Cat Chorus, made up of Eva Capella, Mai-Liis Edwards, Lyllian Fiata, Phineas Inman, Trinity Madison, James Murphy, Jocelyn Santos, Jenna Schillberg, Logan Corrales, Kyler Cross, Crystal Hackett, Diya Patel, Josh Santway, Charlie Thompson, and Sarah Veach.

Many staff members and parents contributed to the play by helping with make-up, donating props, and more. LaFlammes donated a chair, a rug, and greenery for the set.
