BENNINGTON >> The 67th annual Snowball Bazaar at the Second Congregational Church will have several new twists this year, and is being billed as Snowball Bazaar 2.0.
The event will take place from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4, and 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5, at the church on Hillside Street in Bennington. Homemade food and deserts will be available on Friday night, and the church kitchen will be serving lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. There will be a silent auction featuring antiques, artwork, and more. On both days, items such as wreaths, centerpieces, baked goods, toys and games, decorations, jewelry, knickknacks, and more will be available across the various tables. There will also be a "Dinner for 2" raffle, with the winner receiving dinner at a local restaurant. Beyond baked goods, food available on both days will include candies, jams, and gourmet popcorn balls.
For the first time, the event will feature a "Pet Pourri," which will feature a number of items for dogs and cats, including toys, beds, and treats, as well as seed wreaths for birds. According to Lorna Cheriton, the gifts sold at the Pet Pourri are environmentally friendly, and were assembled under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian by the church's Earth Advocates Group.
A portion of the proceeds from the event will go to the church, which hosts over 500 meetings from over 50 community groups every year. Other proceeds will go to the Bennington Free Clinic, the Kitchen Cupboard, and other places of need.
The event's organizers are still looking for donations and volunteers to help make the event happen. For more information, you may visit the church's website, at bennscc.org.
