MONTPELIER (AP) - The official who oversees Vermont's 911 emergency telephone system says it appears that everyone who tried to reach emergency services during a 40-minute statewide system outage was able to get help.

E911 Executive Director David Tucker said Thursday the 911 system should not have failed on Wednesday and that he's disappointed in the vendor who runs the system.

Vermont's 911 system is hosted by Intrado, of Longmont, Colorado.

In a statement issued by Vermont officials, Intrado Vice President Steve Lowe says they experienced a "double equipment failure" and that during restoration another error caused the network to be temporarily unavailable. He says the company is working with the state of Vermont on the issue.

Tucker says the state has informed the Federal Communications Commission.

The system is now working normally.
