RICHMOND - Police have recovered the body of a woman from the water at the Huntington Gorge swim area in Richmond, Vermont.

Police said a witness saw a shirt, and then what appeared to be hair, stuck under branches in the water Sunday afternoon.

The woman was recovered from the water Sunday night. Police are working to identify her. She was described as white, between the ages of 35 and 48, and about 5-foot-3 to 5-foot-5 inches tall.

The Huntington Gorge has been the scene of many accidental drownings through the years.

According to the State Police, the woman does not match the identity of anyone reported missing.

A yellow car was found at the scene, but it is unclcear if it is connected to the drowning.
