The Berkshire District Attorney's office confirmed late Wednesday morning that Ellen DePaoli, of 409 Walker St., was found dead at her home Tuesday night. North Adams Police officers found DePaoli after responding to a 911 call at 8 p.m. reporting the death.
An autopsy, to determine the exact cause of death, is expected to take place Thursday at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Boston.
The District Attorney's office has yet to release any specific details about the investigation or the death.
As of 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, the investigation at the Walker Street home was still underway, and police had blocked off the street, where members of the media had gathered. Crime scene investigators could be seen at the back door of the house. Around 10:30 a.m., a Massachusetts State Police helicopter was circling the area and three state police K-9 units had arrived at the house.
At the scene, Mayor Richard J. Alcombright said there was no reason for the community to be worried about "anything" related to the investigation.
