BENNINGTON -- The first baby born this year in Bennington is a boy.
Brady Douglas Hill was born at 6:50 a.m. on New Years Day, said his mother, Jennifer Hill, 31, of Bennington.
His father, Joshua Hill, 34, said the newest addition to the Hill family weighed seven pounds, five ounces, and was 19 and a half inches long. Brady Hill appeared sleepy in his room at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center Wednesday afternoon, but was vocal about having his photo taken by the press.
"He's been flirting with all the nurses," said Jennifer Hill.
She said this is her first child, but it's the second time her husband has been through this. Josh Hill said his 9-year-old daughter Jordan was his first such experience and she along with other members of his family was at the hospital Tuesday to greet their newest relative.
Expected Jan. 11
"I have my whole family from New York coming up on Saturday to visit," Jennifer Hill said.
Hill said she had a fairly easy pregnancy and was not even sure she was in labor when her water broke on New Year's Eve. She said she wasn't expecting Brady until Jan. 11.
Brady is her maiden name, she said, and Douglas has been in Josh Hill's family for a few generations.
"Everybody says he looks like his dad," said Jennifer Hill. "I think he has my nose."
She said she and Josh have been living in Bennington since 2009, and Josh is from the area. He works at Carbone Auto Group in Bennington while she does marketing for Indian River Rehab and Nursing Center in New York.
She said they bought their house on Burgess Road this year and have a room set aside for Brady when he and his mother are released from the hospital Thursday.
