ARLINGTON - Vermont State Police are investigating the origin of two counterfeit $20 bills spent at Stewart's Bread and Butter Shop in Arlington over the weekend.
An employee reported the counterfeit bills to police Monday but said they were received between 8 p.m. on Saturday and noon on Sunday. Police said the Berkshire Bank in Arlington confirmed the bills were fake.
Counterfeit bills often feel different than actual U.S. currency and also lack some of the unique characteristics.
Anyone with information related to the incident is encouraged to contact police at 442-5421. Information can also be submitted anonymously online at www.vtips.info or by texting "CRIMES" (274637) to Keyword: VTIPS.
