SUNDERLAND - A missing child was found alive and well after an overnight search involving approximately 120 first responders and volunteers.
Police reported the Arlington youth was located at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Sunday. Police said Joseph "Jo Jo" McCray, 7, was able to walk out of the woods on his own but would be evaluated as a medical precaution.
At 11:30 a.m., rescuers transported McCray by stretcher from an all-terrain vehicle to a waiting Bennington Rescue ambulance backed into a trail off South Road in the town of Sunderland, just west of the Route 7 intersection at exit 3.
Authorities said McCray was located approximately one-and-three-quarters of a mile from where he was last seen off Route 7, where he
More than 100 volunters and members from the state police, Vermont Fish and Game, and local fire departments participated in the search effort, in addition to two helicopters.
