HOOSICK, N.Y. -- A 45-year-old man was arrested on assault charges Thursday after Rensselaer County Sheriff's deputies found him at the scene of a stabbing holding a knife and a 4-year-old child.
Sean Muller, 45, was charged with first-degree assault, a felony, second-degree menacing, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and endangering the welfare of a child.
According to a release from the sheriff's office, deputies arrived to the scene of a reported stabbing in the town of Hoosick Thursday to find a woman bleeding from her stomach and Muller in the basement. Deputies were able to secure the child and take the suspect into custody without further incident.
The victim was brought to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center and was held for observation with non life-threatening injuries.
Muller was remanded without bail to reappear for a preliminary hearing on Nov. 13 at noon in Hoosick Village Court.
