COPAKE, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say they've located a 28-year-old man who got lost while hiking in rugged terrain in along the New York-Massachusetts border.
A dispatcher with the Columbia County Sheriff's Office says emergency crews found 28-year-old Kyle Pember of Northborough, Mass. around 4 a.m. Wednesday in Taconic State Park in the town of Copake, 40 miles southeast of Albany.
The dispatcher says he's safe but was still being brought out of the dense forest.
Authorities say Pember was hiking with his father Monday afternoon when the two men got separated. Police launched air and ground searches but didn't find any sign of Pember until he made a cell phone call late Tuesday night. It still took rescuers several hours to find him in the treacherous terrain.
