CAMBRIDGE, N.Y. -- A rash of reported eggings over the past several weeks has tapered off in the village. Police have a suspect in mind, "but he's not cooperating," according to Cambridge Police Chief George Bell.
"It's a huge public inconvenience and an annoyance," said Bell, whose residence and vehicle were among those targeted, along with a sheriff's investigator and village Mayor Stephen Robertson.
"I woke up last Saturday morning and I looked out my bedroom window and it's covered in egg," said Robertson.
Bell said approximately a dozen houses and two vehicles were targeted by the vandal and reported to police. The chief said he had heard of additional incidents around the village that went unreported to authorities. The most recent reported incident occurred last Sunday night or Monday morning.
Since the vandalism began, police have paid close attention and stores have been put on notice for suspicious bulk egg purchases.
Police are asking anyone with information to call the village police offices at 518-677-3044.
