HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- The village may need to implement water conservation measures if there isn’t measurable rainfall soon, warned Jim Hurlbert, water superintendent for the village of Hoosick Falls.
"I highly suggest, if we don’t get a few inches of water by August, we consider some water conservation measures," Hurlbert told village officials on Tuesday.
"It’s not just here, it’s everywhere. ... If you go south of here, it’s worse." Hurlbert said the municipal water supply was currently relying on one of three wells, and the water level was precipitously low. The village board agreed to take action in August if the need arose, setting a meeting and notifying Rensselaer County of the conservation restriction, which would impact outdoor water use like lawn watering and car washing.
