POWNAL -- A sobriety checkpoint on Route 7 in Pownal screened hundreds of drivers, none of whom were intoxicated, state police said.
The checkpoint was conducted Thursday night from 8:30 p.m. to 11 p.m., and involved state police, Bennington police, Manchester police, and employees of the Vermont Department of Liquor Control. Out of 527 contacts, police reported three subjects were screened for suspicion of driving under the influence, and one operator was stopped and issued a ticket for driving with a suspended licensed, but no motorists were reported to be operating under the influence.
