HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- Authorities reported an accident in the village involving a motor vehicle and young child on a bicycle, which resulted in the youth being airlifted to Albany Medical Center.
Hoosick Falls Police Chief Robert Ashe said no charges were filed in connection with the incident, and he said Sunday the child remained hospitalized but in stable condition.
The accident occurred Friday, at approximately 5:30 p.m. Ashe said the 11-year-old boy had been riding his bicycle on Fiske Street in Hoosick Falls, in the direction of Carey Avenue. The motor vehicle was traveling along Carey Avenue when the child collided with the side of the car, according to the police chief.
Ashe said the child was airlifted by helicopter to Albany Medical Center with a broken femur. He said the driver of the vehicle, a local village resident, was upset over the accident and described the 11-year-old as a "good kid" who had just been riding his bike "with the whole summer ahead of him."
