BENNINGTON -- The former Haynes and Kane Furniture Store location has found rebirth as the newest store in the LaFlamme’s Inc. chain.

The doors are now open for shoppers looking to find top brands in furniture, mattresses, flooring, appliances and electronics, owner Christopher LaFlamme Jr. said.

The store is located at the intersection of Harwood Hill and Northside Drive in Bennington.

Months of renovations and preparations have come to an end and the LaFlamme team is eager for the residents of Bennington and the surrounding area to stop in and see the new store, the owner said.

"We preserved familiar elements from the Haynes and Kane store, such as the stone fireplace and the large square windows," said LaFlamme. "We added new windows for more light, brought in new carpeting and flooring throughout the store, and replaced, repaired and repainted the walls."

The new store is 12,500 square feet and has multiple showrooms, including an America’s Mattress gallery featuring products by Serta.

LaFlamme said the response from the Bennington community has been very positive so far. "There was tremendous support for our successful ‘Bring Back the Chair’ project," he said, referring to a petition campaign to restore the landmark ladderback chair that formerly stood at the intersection in front of the Haynes and Kane store.

Approval to recreate the 19-foot chair was received from the Bennington Historic Preservation Commission in May. LaFlamme said the process of reconstructing the chair has begun.

The Bennington location is the fourth store in the LaFlamme’s Inc. chain. The three other locations are in Washington County, N.Y.

The Granville (9140 Route 22) and Whitehall (192 Broadway - Route 4) also feature America’s Mattress galleries. The Cambridge store (2823 Route 22) will be upgraded later this year and another gallery will be added .

Normal store hours at all four LaFlamme’s Inc. locations are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
