HOOSICK, N.Y. -- A local New York man was arraigned on multiple charges earlier this week following a domestic dispute with his girlfriend, who police said fled after the man threatened her with a hammer.
The Rensselaer County Sheriff's Office reported the arrest in a written release, after that department initially responded to a 911 call for help May 21 after midnight on Route 7 in the town of Hoosick.
Donald Disorda Jr., 33, was picked up by Hoosick Falls Police later that morning and arrested following the incident. Police said Disorda is accused of becoming physically violent with his girlfriend while children were asleep in the home.
He was arraigned in Hoosick town court on a felony charge of first-degree unlawful imprisonment and additional misdemeanor charges of fourth-degree criminal mischief, criminal obstruction of breathing, endangering the welfare of a child, and second-degree menacing with a weapon.
Police said the victim reported to sheriff's deputies that Disorda threatened her with a hammer, at which point she was able to run away to a neighbor's residence and call for help.
Disorda was remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail without bail.
