Bluegrass concert at Bennington Center for the Arts
BENNINGTON -- Emmylou Harris said about Jimmy Gaudreau and Moondi Kline's newest CD, "Home from the Mills," "These two gifted artists, armed only with their instruments, voices, and a good bunch of songs, have produced a record that is a joy to listen to. Thanks, Moondi and Jimmy, for reminding us that less truly can be more."
Audiences around the Bennington area can come and hear the duo personally, this Saturday night, Oct. 19 at The Bennington Center for the Arts.
On stage with only one guitar, one mandolin and their classically trained voices, the two will share with audiences their own creativity in music that ranges from traditional folk and ballads to contemporary songs written by the two artists.
Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the concert begins at 8 p.m.
"EXHIBITION: Great Art on Film" series concludes
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- "Vermeer and Music: The Art of Love and Leisure," the final installment of the "EXHIBITION: Great Art on Film" series, airs at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute on Sunday, Oct. 20, at 3 p.m. Tickets are $12 ($10 members and students). Visit clarkart.edu to purchase tickets or call 413 458 0524.
The film takes an in-depth look at the major Vermeer exhibition at the National Gallery in London. Michael Cassin, director of the Clark's Center for Education in the Visual Arts, introduces the film and hosts a question-and-answer session afterwards.
Johannes Vermeer, painter of the iconic Girl with a Pearl Earring, painted little more than thirty works that still exist. The cinema event provides a comprehensive biography of Vermeer and shows in detail many of the artist's great works.
Due to the construction activity and limited parking at the Clark, visitors should plan to arrive 20 minutes early.
