’The Blues Show’ is coming to The Colonial

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Blues Show, featuring The James Montgomery Blues Band, Popa Chubby and The Arthur Holmes Blues Band will make a stop at The Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield on Saturday Jan.26, 2013.

Legendary harmonica player James Montgomery and his band have toured the globe, bringing their high energy brand of the blues to audiences world.wide. Montgomery has toured and recorded with the biggest names in music, including Bruce Springsteen, Aerosmith, B. B. King, Mick Jagger, Kid Rock, Bonnie Raitt, The Allman Brothers and The Steve Miller Band.

He has released six of his own albums. The self titled James Montgomery Band release reached number 9on Billboard’s National Playlist. Another album, the critically acclaimed Duck Fever, was recorded with members of The David Letterman Band. Montgomery lived for a time in Williamstown during the 1980’s. His touring schedule today remains as busy as ever, performing regularly with artists such as Johnny Winter, Buddy Guy and many others.

New York City bluesman Popa Chubby is at the forefront of modern blues.

His incredible guitar work and vocals have transformed him into one of the genres most popular figures. He has released over dozen albums in the U. S. and Europe and currently records for the prestigious Blind Pig blues label. His album, Back To New York City has received rave reviews from critics and fans alike. An imposing figure at over 300 pounds, Popa Chubby’s live performances are always memorable and he describes them as "kind of like Jimi Hendrix meets Robert Johnson." He tours continuously throughout the U. S. and Europe and will also perform in India shortly after his performance at The Colonial.

The Berkshire based Arthur Holmes Blues Band will open the show. Lead singer and guitarist Holmes is quickly establishing himself throughout the northeast as an outstanding guitarist and singer and the band has gained a reputation as one of the hottest blues acts in the region.
